I followed the instructions attached to the product, but only found that the waves on the oscilloscope remained unchanged when testing for current value ( it jumps up and down when starting/ending the power).
Based on the information that you have provided it sounds like there is a significate DC component to the signal. This would lead to the signal jumping when the power is toggled.
