  • RE: Setting Lower Bandwidths with Generic BNC Probe

Fri, 30 Sep 2022 19:44:44 GMT – Setting Lower Bandwidths with Generic BNC Probe

There are two methods of reducing bandwidth of a channel.
    1. Using a MATH filter to limit the bandwidth.
    2. Combining HIGH RES Mode with a reduction of Sample Rate which will also limit the bandwidth of the channel.

  • RE: Setting Attenuation

    Fri, 30 Sep 2022 19:44:42 GMT – Setting Attenuation

Can you elaborate on your P6015A setup, the scope manufacture and model number you are using it on, and any other details you may have?

It is very important with this probe to have an earth ground, both at the probe body and at the interface of the probe to the scope (i.e., an earth-referenced scope channel).

I also recommend reading the full user manual for this probe. Due to the typical use case of this probe (high voltage), it is important to know its limitations and requirements. The manual can be found here: https://www.tek.com/en/high-voltage-probe-manual/p6015a

  • RE: Set scope settings from PC

Fri, 30 Sep 2022 19:44:40 GMT – Set scope settings from PC

    Hello,

Unfortunately, there is not a tool that would help view and edit the settings files. The THS3000 is also not supported by TekVisa so it will not be able to respond to commands over the Talker/Listener.

  • RE: Set Max Amplitude

Fri, 30 Sep 2022 19:44:39 GMT – Set Max Amplitude

The 500 mVp-p to 1 Vp-p spec is for differential usage. When operating as single-ended, the voltage output is half of that or 250-500 mVp-p.

  • RE: Passive Probe not reading voltage

Fri, 30 Sep 2022 19:44:37 GMT – Passive Probe not reading voltage

There is not any documentation regarding functional tests for the TPP1000 or TPP500 passive probes. Could it be that the probe is connected to a earth-isolated voltage source? Without a ground reference to the source you won't get a signal because the scope itself is earth grounded.

Depending on the bandwidth of your MSO54 you should have received 4 of either TPP probes. Do you believe one of the TPP probes to be damaged or defective?

Tektronix is not in a position to represent that parts or manuals provided by these companies will be complete and contain all updates. Nor can we represent that a particular manual will necessarily correspond to the customer's specific product because of different versions of a product. We are supplying these names merely to provide customers a possible source for manuals for obsolete products without any endorsement or recommendation.

  • RE: Self-Calibration/ Updating Internal Table

    Fri, 30 Sep 2022 19:44:30 GMT – Self-Calibration/ Updating Internal Table

    Thanks for contacting us,

There is not a mechanism for self-calibration of the RSA306B. While you can follow the procedures in the Performance Verification manual (https://download.tek.com/manual/RSA306B-Real-Time-Spectrum-Analyzer-Specifications-Performance-Verification-077124301.pdf) to characterize the instrument and verify it is within spec, if the results indicate it needs to be recalibrated it will need to be sent to a calibration lab that supports it. You can find more detail on our calibration services webpage here: https://www.tek.com/en/services/calibration-services

  • RE: Seeing a "step" in the spectrum for the RSA306B

Fri, 30 Sep 2022 19:44:28 GMT – Seeing a "step" in the spectrum for the RSA306B

What you are seeing is the effect of a limitation of the RSA306B. The capture bandwidth is limited to 40MHz. This causes the RSA to capture several acquisitions and stitch them together, in your case DC to 30MHz, 30MHz to 70MHz, and 70MHz to 100MHz. This is normal behavior for the RSA, and unless you are taking measurements right at the noise floor it should not interfere with your measurements.
